Araminta Ross

Bet you didn't know that Harriet Tubman changed her name from Araminta Ross, maybe I'm the only one in the world that did not know. I was googling this vintage shop - Araminta Rose and found that out. Love this dress, wish it came in my size.

Crying Like a Biatch!

That's what I'm doing right now...

So I've been avoiding Haiti commentary...one of those things were if I'm so moved in certain ways about something I just don't even wanna talk about it. Also not sure what spin I was gonna take is discussing how a lot of things that are played/playing out. Should I be sympathetic, cynical, sarcastic, hopeless... so I've just not said anything. And then I happened on We are the World 25... now when it opened with Jamie Foxx...I was like oh gosh... this is gonna be some cheesy ass shit... but then the song came on and all the singing started...and it just came out...tears...goosebumps...i turned into a little crying girl...
wtf pms much?

I still don't know what to say...
mostly I just get really angry as some ways it's manifested in mainstream culture and turned into marketing and consumerist agenda. I have to say is... we should support not just haiti but pay attention to hella shit going on in our neighborhood...hometowns and around the world. I have criticisms of big corporations and organizations (i.e. red cross)... the general intent seems good... but how does your $50 donation to the cause really play out in terms of the cause you think you're supporting.

anyways back to the video. it was good. I have no hating comments...it made me cry. did it's job...

Here are some organizations that I think are pretty good with regards to being focused in Haiti

•    Grassroots International; www.grassrootsonline.org
•    Partners in Health; www.standwithhaiti.org
•    Haiti Emergency Relief Fund; http://haitiaction.net/About/HERF/HERF.html

•    Global Fund for Children; www.globalfundforchildren.org
•    Haitian Women for Haitian Refugees and Lakou Radio via the North Star Fund;https://npo.networkforgood.org/Donate/Donate.aspx?npoSubscriptionId=1000517

Wacker Slacker.

Oh M GEE. So much to talk about so little me/time. I've been slacking on updating the blog because I've actually been busy as all hell! So yeah when you're living, sometimes it's challenging to take time to write about it.

That's what happens when you're someone who's multi-interested...not quite all the way talented per se. Let's see since my last terrorist update; I've kicked it with fam in So-cal, come back up north, cancelled a trip to NY, co-coordinated two events, ditched out to santa cruz, choreographed/ing multiple pieces for multiple events/shows, dj'd a house party, made a bunch of earrings, adopted strays, discussed new designs for apparel, coordinated graphic projects, and still maintain a full time job that is pretty unrelated to everything I've listed...blah blah blah and the list goes on. I'm busy...albeit by choice but damit I am!!

and just in case you were wondering yes those are homecooked meals prepared by me. of course if ya know me...you know that's just one of those things i like to do. Original Mgbeke...(sharap!)

Due to this whole four day weekend dealie (3 for most of you... lucky me) I have a quick breather, but really all that means is more time for other work that I've been putting on the back burner... there's a bunch of administrative and creative to-do's for this here one3snapshot, there's housekeeping chores, and personal relationships to catch up on. Thank goodness for long 'weekends'.

Now I will be back to do a proper update, pictures, videos and of course my opinion on things that I'm convinced you should care about.

P.S. we really try to update facebook, another avenue is our youtube channel...there are random videos there from political actions to performances to whatever my camera captures. SO keep in the loop with us through those... just backslash and one3snapshot on all these mediums... i.e. http://www.youtube.com/one3snapshot
and so on on twitter et. al.

my name is N... and that's all i got for right now.

peaceseses!!

Visual Inspiration

1.Rachel Stewart 2.Rachel Roy

We are cooking up a few things behind the scenes and these two images serve up inspiration for me. I love love love the simplicity of the first image, it reminds me of all the earrings Nkei has been making. Rachel Roy = reconstructed art and it's even better that it's widely available in stores! Like this leather jacket that has zippers in unique places and colorful inner lining...you have to see it in person to truly appreciate it.
